Mackin-Hosted Digital Resources
Why do some resources open in programs with different features? All digital resources hosted by Mackin will open in the MackinVIA™ Reader. Some resources are hosted by other publishers, which will account for the differences in appearance and features.
Labels on Cover Images
What do the labels next to the cover images mean? indicates there are no available copies of the title. means the title is checked out to you. means you have requested the title. means the requested title is available. A notification will also display next to your Backpack when the requested title becomes available.
If Your Digital Resource Doesn’t Open
What if the resource does not open when I click on it? Make sure you have pop-ups enabled in your browser. Try closing the window and then clicking on the title again. If that doesn’t work, please report difficulties to your librarian or teacher.
Groups
My librarian saved resources in MackinVIA for my class/project. Where can I find these resources? Your librarian can create collections of digital resources for you to browse and view. Check Out Digital Resources
Do I have to check out resources to read them? Many digital resources do not need to be checked out, meaning everyone can read them at the same time. Other resources can only be read by a certain number of students at one time. To check out a title, make sure you are logged into your Backpack™ account….
Categories
What are Categories? Categories provide a quick and easy way for you to find digital resources. Click the Categories tab on the left side of the screen. (Please note: this feature must be enabled by your librarian.) Click on a Category to browse the resources in that subject. (Pictures my vary.) Watch a video!
Cancel Requests
What if I don’t need a resource anymore after I request it? You can remove yourself from the waiting list by clicking the Backpack™ icon and then Requests. Then choose the Cancel Request button next to the digital resource you want to cancel.
